While our crew has been working around the clock, the weather, in typical New England fashion, has not cooperated in making ice.
The rink will not open for skating this weekend.
We hope to open it Tuesday (weather permitting!). However, we WILL still hold the opening ceremony today at 4pm, lighting our tree and announcing our food drive with the NH Food Bank. Come join us, it'll be a nice warm afternoon!

Strawbery Banke Museum has added a winter ice skating facility to its historic landscape. This tastefully designed venue is a significant community asset and is appropriately named “Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond" for historic significance and its pond-like look and feel. It also complements the Museum’s mission to be a cultural resource and gathering place.

Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond provides ice skating in a festive atmosphere and bring a joyous, community experience to the city of Portsmouth during the winter. The rink is a seasonal venue that is erected from December through February. Our goal is to bring families, skaters, and spectators to enjoy healthy, winter recreation at an affordable price.

Our Story

Interest in a community ice skating rink at Strawbery Banke Museum (SBM) has existed for many years. In fact there have been times in the past when Puddle Dock was flooded and used for ice skating. This interest has been validated, the approvals have been given, and the vision is about to become a reality! The collective vision is to bring families, skaters and spectators together in a winter gathering spot that encourages healthy and affordable outdoor winter recreation for all ages and abilities. See you on the rink this winter!
